The first step in the creation of KODAKIT was not building a platform, it was starting conversations. Before our team made anything, we spoke with photographers to ask them for their input. One of those photographers was Marc Tan.
Marc was also generous enough to share a little bit about his own personal photography journey. Here’s what he had to say:
How did you get started shooting photography?
I started shooting professionally less than three years ago, prior to that I was doing a degree in audio engineering. Photography was always something I did for fun during my high school and university days in Adelaide and Melbourne.
What types of photography do you specialize in?
Fashion, Interior Design and Lifestyle.
What is you favorite thing about your photography career?
That I work for myself and constantly meet new people, good and bad.
What makes your style unique?
Depending on the job and client, I use different formats – analog and digital, 35mm and medium format, single-lens reflex cameras as well as rangefinders. I also try to stay away from trends.
Of all the photos you’ve shot, which one is your favorite? Why?
This one, from my series/book “In A Lonely Place.” It’s difficult to put into words but it’s got the right aesthetic in my opinion and a feeling of loneliness, which I like to have in my personal work.
